Making faux wood grain is really not all that hard. It is a matter of selecting your card stock and your ink colors - several, and then dragging the edge of the ink pad accross the card stock. For this wood grain frame, I started with Pretty In Pink card stock and ink colors used were, creamy caramel Dye ink, sahara sand Dye ink and white CRAFT ink. I sponged around the inner edges with Sahara Sand and the outer edges of the frame with Close to Cocoa.
Supplies: Stamp Set: Fun and Fast Notes; Card Stock: Rose Red, Pretty in Pink, Sahara Sand, Whisper white and Watercolor card stock. Inks: Jet Black StazOn, Sahara Sand, Creamy Caramel, white Craft, Close to Cocoa, and Rose Red; Accessories, 1/16" hole punch, Word Window Punch, Modern Label Punch, Rose Red Grosgrain ribbon, Vintage Brads, Wheel Handle and "Perfect Fit" regular wheel, Blender Pen and H2O Crayons.
There is a great tutorial on Splitcoast http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/fauxwood/
I omitted using the embossing on the wood grain.
