Does this look like a winter picture to you? The grandchildren got to spend the day and the night with us yesterday! After their nap we packed up a light snack and headed to the park. They ate their snack in a bit of a hurry to run off to the playground.
Their is one of those large slide complexes with just about six slides coming off of it - they love them and running all around. A GREAT TIME was had by all!
I don't think I should ever complain again about putting in a long day. Yesterday our son completed the Tempe Iron Man Triathlon! I am totally impressed.
They do 2.4 miles of swimming, then bike for 112 miles and finish up by running 26.2 miles. Are you impressed now too? That is putting in one long day!
Sorry about the blank post - that happened last night.
Life has been busy. We went to see a play at Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, last night. When we were walking through the beautiful gardens before the performance last night, I was snapping a few pictures with my new DROID X Smart-phone:
So, I sat down on one of the
lovely benches by the lily ponds and decided I should try to upload one of the pictures to my blog. I know there must be a way, however, I just didn't get to the mastery part of this phone function. However, I am happy to tell you that I can definitely use it for making and receiving phone calls, which really is it's primary task. AND I can also access the internet from whereever I am, which is quite delightful. I don't see myself however, turning into one of those geeks that are constantly on it, texting or whatever they do. It is a pretty smart phone however, I just need to get smart along with it on all it's capabilities and what it can do for me!

On our recent trip/vacation (you can read about it in the March 19th post) we were in Hawaii and planning to visit grandchildren on the way home (PA). This little Hawaiian ensemble was a gift for our soon to be three year old granddaughter. She loved it and immediately shed her clothes in favor of the grass skirt and halter top and started to dance (oh yes, the shell necklace was a hit too.
CUTE STORY: One night while visiting, Grandma Pennie (that's me) cooked dinner for everyone. Lauren began eating her dinner and pointed to her cut up meat and asked me what this was that I made. I replied "It's Chicken Chicken, and that it was a favorite of her mommy when her mommy was my little girl". She chuckled and pointed to the next two things on her plate and said "and is this potato, potato and this broccoli, broccoli?". She cracked me up and we all started laughing out loud at her show of a GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR!
I'm just wondering, because I have been away from home for a month (see, I'll bet you didn't even know that LOL).
Started with nine wonderful days on the Big Island in Hawaii and just had to try out my new Flip Flops that I purchased at Leadership, what fun I had leaving a trail in the sand. Check this out:
AND, oh my gosh, our departure date was March 27th, the day of the Tsunami warning. We were lucky that we were in a wonderful hotel that really took great care of us. We were awaken at 6:26am by the hotel PA system and told that we were being evacuated. My first thought was a mild panic, but that did subside. The day turned out to be a bit different than we had planned, but all you really needed was to grab a good book (as in, beach read) AND your STAMPIN' UP! catalogs (can't leave those behind, right), and your cell phone and we were set to leave. Oh, yes, we did get dressed.
Because we were set to fly home that day, our suitcases were packed and travel clothes left out, so we jumped into those. When we showed up in the lobby there was hot coffee waiting for us till we were ready to leave.
We were evacuated to a maintenance area for the two resort hotels on the property as well as for the many beautiful homes on the property. At 7:30AM we were driven via yellow school buses about a mile up the road and higher ground.
When we arrived so much had already been set up - tables, under some cover with white table cloths even and plenty of chairs. They even started setting up roll away beds for those that really wanted to sleep. Cribs for the little ones were also available. There was a sumptuous buffet set up for us and the food, just kept flowing for the entire six hours that we were evacuated!
All, in all (especially since there ended up not being any scary disaster, luckily) it turned out to be a very interesting day. We really had not made any plans for our last day, except to ask for a late check out which was 2 pm. When we arrived back at the hotel, all guests were invited to a wonderful (as in lots of crab legs) buffet dinner compliments of the hotel. We also arranged to stay until 6:30 pm when we departed to the airport to catch our scheduled Red Eye (Oh No!) flight to the main land.
This morning when we woke up we saw a beautiful blanket of snow on everything. I love it when it coats the branches of the trees!
Just wanted to share the beauty of our little corner of PA today.

-because my sweet little granddaughter has been here in PA this past week visiting with her parents. Yesterday we all went to Longwood Gardens (if you have never been there, it is Kennett Square, PA and is a phenomenal place to visit for young and old!). They have a new Children's Garden area that we headed for right away. The lady at the entrance said to be sure to roll up Lauren's sleeves, and we are glad that we did. There are so many fountains and water features that kept Lauren smiling, even at age 16 months. She loved putting her hands in the water. Here are a couple more photos of her enjoying her time.
